Surfer Magazine V.2, No. 2 (1961)

Few people know that this classic shot of Reynolds Yater was actually taken at the Ranch, not Hammond's Reef as cited on page 1. With this, the third issue of SURFER Magazine ever, founder and publisher John Severson added Letters to the Editor and Contest Club News, two features that have stood the test of time. Content includes early features on big-wave riding in Peru and at Sunset Beach. Rick Griffin also makes his debut with Big Wednesday, which appears on the back cover, and Murphy and the Surfing Contest. Plus "Windansea Walls" and "Toes on the Nose". This issue includes lots of classic period ads by Yater, Con, Wardy, Ole, Gordie, Dave Sweet, Bing, Dewey Weber, and Jacobs. This copy is in very good condition, at least 85% mint. Corners are bunted slightly. Very light cover and spine wear overall. Complete and intact with no torn or missing pages, no water stains or moisture damage of any kind. Packaged in archival quality plastic sleeve and acid-free mat backing board. Guaranteed original and authentic. This item is from the Pat Magee collection of the Texas Surf Museum.
